Betfred boss Fred Done donates £1.25 Million to iMRI Scanner Appeal after Cheltenham Festival Day 1

A £4MILLION appeal to buy a state of the art scanner to help save the lives of seriously ill children has today reached the half way stage – thanks to bookmaker Fred Done.

Betfred boss Fred has donated all profits amounting to an amazing £1.25million from over-the-counter bets made on Tuesday at his 1,630 betting shops to the iMRI Appeal. That was the first day of the world-famous Cheltenham Festival, traditionally one of the busiest days in the horse racing calendar. Plus Manchester City also hosted Schalke in the Champion’s League in the evening.

With hardly any favourites winning at the Festival it was a big money making day for Betfred… unlike Wednesday and Thursday where the punters came out on top.  That meant it was brilliant news for the appeal whose fund has now reached the half way stage after […]

Betfred named title sponsor of the British Masters

The European Tour has announced UK based bookmakers Betfred as the new title sponsor of the British Masters.

The agreement, for an initial two years, marks another new chapter for the historic tournament, which has been a popular part of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai for the past four seasons after returning to the schedule in 2015 following a seven year absence.

Tommy Fleetwood, the 2017 Race to Dubai Champion and one of the stars of last year’s Ryder Cup, will host this year’s Betfred British Masters at Hillside Golf Club (May 9-12), in Southport, the coastal town where he grew up.

Fleetwood succeeds Ian Poulter (2015), Luke Donald (2016), Lee Westwood (2017) and Justin Rose (2018) as the tournament host, with each member of the quartet having played an important part in the rebirth of the tournament, […]

Stuart Pearce Kicks-Off New Football Season For Betfred

One time trainee electrician Stuart Pearce has sparked a huge Premier League title debate!
The England legend, who has signed up with Betfred to front the bookie’s Sky Sports TV campaign, believes Manchester United will be champions…and that’s despite him being a former manager of title favourites big-spending  Manchester City.

Pearce is always in demand for his forthright opinions and reckons the £90m record signing of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku by Jose Mourinho from under the noses of his former employers, reigning champions Chelsea, may tip the balance of power back to the north.

With his wealth of experience as a top-flight player and manager, Pearce, aged 55, never sits on the fence.

His no-nonsense opinion delivered in an instantly recognisable voice has great credibility and reflects his vast experience from his much-travelled hard-tackling playing career at Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, West Ham and […]

Betfred To Sponsor Crolla-Linares Rematch At Manchester Arena

Anthony Crolla will meet Jorge Linares in a rematch for the WBA, WBC Diamond and Ring magazine World Lightweight titles at the Manchester Arena on March 25th, live on Sky Sports and sponsored by bookie Betfred.

Crolla and Linares met in the same venue for the belts in September with the Venezuelan coming out on top in an enthralling contest, ending the brilliant winning run of Manchester hero ‘Million Dollar’ who claimed the title with a stoppage win over Darleys Perez in November 2015 before destroying dangerous Ismael Barroso in May.

The 30 year old from Moston is delighted to get a second crack at the classy Linares, and believes he’s better placed to regain his title following their first meeting.

“There had been lots of talk on the rematch since the first fight with Jorge so I’m delighted to finally get […]

No Vacation For Scoop6 Punters

A 33/1 success for Colin Tizzard’s Royal Vacation in an eventful Kauto Star Novices Chase at Kempton saw the Scoop6 rollover after just four legs.

A win fund of £387,618 and a bonus fund of £105,034 was up for grabs on a special Boxing Day edition of the popular pool bet.

Earlier on in the afternoon a 12/1 success for Little Bruce, a 7/2 win for the well supported Poker School and a bloodless victory for Definitely Red at 9/2 meant 166 tickets remained at the halfway stage but none had covered the Paddy Brennan ridden 6yo in the Grade One race, perhaps surprisingly considering the yards fine form this season, which means an estimated £750,000 could be up for grabs on New Year’s Day where the ITV camera’s will be showing action from Cheltenham & Musselburgh.

Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said […]
