Betfred are proud to sponsor over 600 horse races a year, and there is always a keenly contested award for ‘Best Turned Out’ horse at each one of them.

To mark our return to snooker’s biggest stage, we are delighted to announce that in a Crucible first, Shaun ‘The Magician’ Murphy has been awarded the title at this year’s Betfred World Snooker Championship.

And as sponsors of this iconic event, we are even more pleased to be donating £250 to Shaun’s chosen charity – the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

The 2005 world champion has wowed the Crucible Theatre with his scintillating snooker and his wonderful wardrobe choices over the past week and a half, and Betfred’s Head of Media Mark Pearson explained there was no other candidate for the award.

“Shaun was the winner by a mile, it was clearly a one horse race” he said. “We are delighted to make the donation of £250 to his chosen charity.

“This links in nicely with the close relationship we have with Bluebell Wood Hospice here in Sheffield, and continues Betfred’s proud tradition of supporting worthy causes.

“Only a man with certain style can rock a red suit, and although he collected his award in a more reserved grey number, we were still very happy to present him with the donation.”

Murphy will be wearing the charity’s emblem on whichever waistcoat he chooses to play in for the semi-finals, as he bids to win the Betfred World Snooker Championship for the second time, a decade on from his momentous maiden victory.
