Betfred History
The founder of Betfred, Fred Done, started in 1967 with just one shop and now oversees a retail estate of over 1350 shops, and pools betting on UK racecourses. Find out more about the first bookmaker to pay out early on Manchester United in 1998 only for Arsenal to win the title.
Investing in the UK
Through organic growth and acquiring other independents Betfred had provided over 4500 jobs in the UK and made a significant contribution to the UK economy through taxes. The new enlarged group employs over 8,500 people.
